Minaj has performed at the VMAs six times in total. However, her husband is unlikely to attend the show, due to legal issues.

It is presented to artists who have had a profound impact on the world of music video. The award is not awarded as a conventional silver trophy. Previous winners include Janet Jackson, Madonna, LL Cool J, and Missy Elliott. The Video Vanguard Award has also been given to The Beatles.
