Rapper Coolio Passes Away At 59

Rapper Coolio passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the age of 59. He began his career in the 80s and rose to fame with his song “Gangsta’s Paradise,” which was featured in the movie “Dangerous Minds.” It later won him a 1996 Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. He was born in Monessen, Pennsylvania, and moved to Compton, California. In 1987, he released his first single, “Whatcha Gonna Do,” and joined a group called WC and the Maad Circle.

According to his manager, Coolio was at his friend’s house when he suddenly passed away. His friend became concerned when Coolio did not respond to name calls, so he went over to investigate. When he returned to his house, he was unresponsive and the EMTs pronounced him dead at the scene. The cause of death is not yet clear, but it is believed to be a heart attack.

Born in Pennsylvania, Coolio had major mainstream success in the 1990s with his hit song “Gangsta’s Paradise.” It was featured in the movie Dangerous Minds and won a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. It has also sold millions of copies worldwide.

Coolio, real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr. , was born on Aug. 1, 1963. He became an influential artist and reality-TV personality. He also wrote a cookbook, “Cooking With Coolio” and starred in his own cooking show.

After his career in music, Coolio also branched out into acting. His role as the supervillain Jonathan Crane in Batman & Robin was highly successful, and he also portrayed himself on TV. He was also cast in a hit 1990s show called “The Nanny.” He also created a cooking show called “Cookin’ With Coolio” and a reality television show called “Coolio’s Rules. He was married to Josefa Salinas for eight years, and the couple had four children.

After Coolio’s rise to fame in the mid-’90s, his popularity continued to grow. He recorded the song “Aw, Here It Goes!” for the opening sequence of the Nickelodeon show “Kenan & Kel.” In 1997, he released his third studio album, “My Soul.” The album earned him a gold certification. However, it did not have the same impact as his first two albums.
