The case against Young Thug, whose legal name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, is being handled by attorneys in Fulton County. In the indictment, Williams is accused of being the co-founder of a street gang called YSL. The gang is known for being involved in violent criminal activity in the city. It is alleged that YSL is affiliated with the Bloods gang.
In May of this year, Fulton County officials announced that 28 people had been arrested. This included Young Thug and several other members of the YSL gang. All of them were charged with a variety of crimes. They were also reportedly found with drug possession, street racing, speeding, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
In an effort to combat organized crime, Georgia lawmakers enacted the RICO Act, or Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, in 1970. It allows the state to prosecute a number of different types of crimes, including racketeering, fraud, and money laundering. It is much more comprehensive than the federal counterpart.
In May of this year, Fulton authorities issued a 56-page gang indictment. The indictment, which was filed against 26 individuals, details the crimes and violent actions of the YSL gang. It includes social media posts, as well as song lyrics that Williams allegedly wrote about the gang.
Young Thug was also arrested in May, and is facing a variety of charges. He is accused of participating in criminal street gang activities, including the possession of a machine gun, speeding, and reckless driving. He is also accused of being the chief executive officer of the YSL gang.
In addition to being charged with multiple crimes, Young Thug has been denied bail several times. He is expected to face a trial in January. He has been charged with eight charges, and will likely face up to 20 years in prison. His lawyers have also been attempting to get him out on bond. But the judge denied his bond request three times.
The jury selection for the YSL trial is scheduled to begin in January. During the trial, the defendants will have to answer questions from the court about the crime they are accused of. The jury will also have to determine whether the defendants were guilty of the crimes they were alleged to have committed.
