Kanye West will not be charged for punching a fan, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t face consequences for his actions. A misdemeanor battery can result in a maximum of six months in jail and a $2800 fine. However, the rapper did explain that the woman in the video is his cousin. It’s not clear what prompted the altercation.
The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office has decided to drop the charges against Kanye West for punching a fan outside his Hollywood Hills studio on January 16. The case was resolved without charges because the evidence did not show a reasonable chance of conviction. A woman identified as Kanye’s cousin tried to diffuse the situation by stepping in and addressing the situation. The alleged victim declined medical treatment at the scene, but went to an urgent care center later. While the case is still in court, Kanye has been photographed out and about with Madonna and Antonio Brown.
