Hip Hop Legend Grand Daddy IU Passes Away At 54 At

If you’re an enthusiast of hip-hop, you may have heard of Grand Daddy I.U. He was a prominent member of the early rap label Cold Chillin’ Records. His death is thought to have occurred in his sleep. He was born on August 23, 1968, and he was 54 years old at the time of his death. He was a hip-hop legend. His life was filled with ups and downs, but his talent was never in question.

GDIU released four studio albums. The first, Smooth Assassin, earned him a breakthrough into the music industry, and his follow-up, Lead Pipe, was also an instant hit. His third album, Stick To The Script, featured production from Large Professor, and his fourth album, Stay Fly, reflected his growth as an artist. He was known for his lyric skills, and his longtime mentor Pete Rock praised him for his ability. However, he was never able to achieve the success that other artists on Cold Chillin’ Records had. He and Biz Markie parted ways in 1994, and he went on to become a solo artist. His most recent work, Stay Fly, was released in 2021.

He was a member of the Cold Chillin’ Records roster, and he passed away at the age of 54. He is survived by his wife, and his parents.
