Kodak Black is wanted after he allegedly violated the terms of his bail by failing to show up for a drug test. A judge reportedly issued an arrest warrant for the 25-year-old rapper following the failed test, according to TMZ.
The warrant was signed by a Broward County judge Thursday, and was made public over the weekend. It says that the “ZEZE” rapper allegedly failed to submit to a drug test on February 3 and then submitted a sample on February 8, but it came back positive for fentanyl, which is considered to be much more potent than heroin.
This isn’t the first time that the hip-hop star has gotten into legal trouble, and it probably won’t be the last. In 2019, he was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in federal prison for providing false information on required firearms paperwork.
In the meantime, he has become a noted philanthropist from his base in South Florida, paying for college for the children of two slain FBI agents, covering funeral costs for a police officer in South Carolina and donating $100,000 to the Nova Southeastern University law school in memory of a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting victim.
But that’s all been put on hold until this week, when he was found to have violated the conditions of his release from jail a few weeks ago. The warrant was issued by a judge in Broward County, and it says that Kodak is to be taken into custody immediately if he’s encountered by sheriff’s deputies.
If he’s caught, there are additional orders to keep the “Super Gremlin” hitmaker without bond until his hearing in this Oxy case from last year.
Earlier this month, Kodak Black reportedly violated the conditions of his July 2022 release from jail by failing to show up for a random drug test. He also allegedly failed to submit a sample the day of the test, which came back positive for fentanyl.
He was arrested in July 2022 for possession of a controlled substance without prescription and trafficking oxycodone, according to news reports at the time. Cops seized 31 oxycodone pills and $74,960 in cash from Black’s vehicle. His lawyer, Bradford Cohen, argued that the drugs were legally prescribed and that Kodak was suffering from chronic pain after being shot in February 2022.
The rapper was subsequently released after posting bail. But the conditions of his release included regular drug testing and wearing a GPS ankle monitor, according to TMZ.
In addition, he had to remain at home unless for medical reasons, court appearances or employment. In addition to his criminal record, Black has also been involved in other legal tangles, including a lawsuit a year after being shot outside of Justin Bieber’s Super Bowl afterparty.
TMZ reported that Kodak Black has now been named as a defendant in a civil suit filed by two men who allege that he escalated an incident when they were shot and injured at The Good Man nightclub in Los Angeles, where he was celebrating with Bieber. The suit names Bieber, the venue, the city of Los Angeles and LA County as defendants in a libel lawsuit.
