Tupac Shakur Estate Opens Up Powamekka Cafe
The Powamekka Cafe concept first came to life while Tupac was still alive. Tupac’s vision for the establishment was to provide customers with a place to parlay, play, and partake in his music. To honor his legacy, the cafe is now a reality, complete with Tupac memorabilia. Previously, the Tupac Shakur Estate partnered with Universal Music Group’s Bravado label and operated a restaurant at the Sweet Chick in Los Angeles.
Pop-up restaurant opened in Los Angeles
In honor of the late rapper Tupac Shakur, the estate has announced a pop-up restaurant in his honor at L.A. Live. The Powamekka Cafe is located at 800 W. Olympic Boulevard A150, Los Angeles and will feature Pac-inspired cocktails, decor, and food. You can find out more about the restaurant on Instagram. The restaurant is open Sundays only. It will be open for two weeks, from June 16 to June 30. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.
Joint venture with Fixins Soul Kitchen
The Powamekka Café debuted across from the “Wake Me When I’m Free” Tupac Shakur Museum in Los Angeles on what would have been Tupac’s 51st birthday. In a joint venture with Fixins Soul Kitchen, the cafe will serve southern comfort cuisine. Guests can look forward to meatloaf, fried chicken wings, and gumbo, among other dishes. The Powamekka Cafe is open to the public from June 16 to June 30.
Designed to serve food and drink, the Powamekka Cafe has Pac-inspired cocktails, decor, and food. Originally conceived while Tupac was alive, the Powamekka Cafe will be named for him. It is a sister restaurant to the New York restaurant Sweet Chick. While the two restaurants are very different in their menus, both will feature a large selection of fried chicken wings.
Concept created by Tupac Shakur
Founded in New York City’s Lower East Side, the Powamekka Cafe is named after the late rapper. The cafe opened in 2017 as a tribute to the late hip-hop artist’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The menu has changed slightly to reflect the spirit of the artist. Customers can expect to find Southern comfort food, such as fried chicken wings, gumbo, and meatloaf.
The Powamekka Cafe concept was created by the late rapper himself and will be based on his sketches. The new restaurant will feature a carefully curated collection of photos, music, and food that he loved. The restaurant is expected to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner to a limited group of guests. Guests can purchase a variety of items for the restaurant from T-shirts to clothing.
