In a significant turn of events, popular hip-hop podcast host Daryl “Taxstone” Campbell has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for his involvement in a 2016 shooting at a New York City concert. The sentencing has stirred up mixed reactions within the music community, with rapper Troy Ave being among those who have commented on the verdict. In this article, we will delve into the details of Taxstone’s sentencing, examine Troy Ave’s response, and provide an unbiased account of the situation.

Taxstone, known for his podcast “Tax Season,” found himself entangled in a legal battle stemming from a fatal shooting incident that occurred at a T.I. concert at Irving Plaza in May 2016. The incident resulted in the death of Ronald McPhatter, a bodyguard for rapper Troy Ave, and left several others injured. Taxstone, whose real name is Daryl Campbell, was charged with federal gun charges and the murder of Ronald McPhatter.

After initially denying any involvement, Taxstone pleaded guilty in federal court to two weapons charges in connection with the shooting. In March 2023, he was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison. The lengthy sentence reflects the seriousness of the charges against him and the gravity of the incident.

Troy Ave, who was present during the shooting incident and suffered a gunshot wound himself, has been vocal about his views on Taxstone’s sentencing. The rapper, whose real name is Roland Collins, expressed his thoughts in an interview following the verdict.

Troy Ave maintained that Taxstone was directly responsible for the violence that unfolded that night, implicating him in the murder of his bodyguard. The rapper expressed relief that justice was served, emphasizing that he had lost a dear friend and colleague in the tragic incident. Troy Ave further stated that he hoped Taxstone’s sentence would serve as a deterrent and encourage others to think twice before resorting to violence.

The sentencing of Taxstone to 35 years in prison for his involvement in the 2016 shooting at a New York City concert has generated various reactions, including that of rapper Troy Ave. While Taxstone’s guilty plea and subsequent sentencing signify a legal resolution to the case, opinions within the music community continue to differ.

As this case concludes, it serves as a reminder of the consequences that can arise from violence in any setting. It is crucial for artists and individuals in the industry to prioritize peaceful resolutions and foster a culture that values safety and respect.
