Kodak Black Upset With BET After Latto Wins Song Of The Year Award
While Kodak Black has not won any awards yet, he has had a very successful rap career. His debut single, “No Flockin,” received recognition and paved the way for his subsequent releases. His 2017 album Painting Pictures reached number three on the Billboard 200. The rapper was also nominated for a Grammy Award for “Best Rap Song.”
The BET Hip Hop Awards are a celebration of black music, and Latto’s ‘Big Energy’ song won the Song of the Year Award. Kodak’s “Super Gremlin” was up for nomination. After the award show, Kodak took to Instagram live and made his frustrations known. While referring to Latto as “Frappuccino” and later sending a tweet on Twitter referring to her as a “mutt”, Kodak believes that she was only given the award because she was a woman. He voiced that there was an agenda supporting “women empowerment”, which he says he has no problem with. However, Kodak stated that if this is the case, then Memphis, Tn female rapper Glorilla (who won for Best Breakthrough Artist) should have won because her “F.N.F.” was more of an anthem than “Big Energy”.
