According to the lawsuit, Kanye West and GAP have terminated a contract that was signed in 2020. The contract stated that Gap would sell Yeezy clothing and open a Yeezy store. But, the brand has been unable to sell enough clothing to make the deal work. Although Gap launched the Yeezy puffer jacket in June of last year, it failed to sell many copies. Kanye West’s lawyer, Nicholas Gravante, claims that GAP left him no choice but to terminate the contract and Yeezy retail stores.
In August, Yeezy notified GAP that they were unhappy with their contract, and GAP had 30 days to correct their mistakes. But, GAP did not respond to Yeezy’s concerns. A spokesperson for GAP declined to comment on the issue. Although the company has not yet responded to Yeezy’s request, the lawsuit outlines a series of issues that went wrong during the partnership.
The GAP and Yeezy Clothing deal is likely to be a major distraction for GAP as a result of West’s feud with Adidas. In a video posted on Instagram, he claimed that the company had copied his designs and was dissatisfied.
