Ice Cube’s AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted 30th Anniversary Listening Party
When it comes to having longevity and legacy in the culture, west coast hip hop representative Ice Cube more than fits the description. With a career that spans music, movies, and the creation of the Big 3 basketball league, Cube has taken the blueprint and expanded it over multiple decades. Not to mention, he is held in high regards in the discussion of greatest rappers of all time. Needless to say, Cube’s contribution to the art of rap is solidified in hip hop history.
Ice Cube’s first solo album after his departure from the groundbreaking group N.W.A., Amerikkka’s Most Wanted, recently turned 30 years old. The album is documented as one of the first fusions of east and west coasts hip hop elements. It showed Ice Cube as an artist capable of holding his own and creating classic material. It also was an introduction to Cube’s new crew, Lench Mob, which included Yo-Yo, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Sir Jinx, and the group Da Lench Mob. In honor of the platinum album’s anniversary, Ice Cube took to his Instagram account and did a live listening and commentary of it. With plenty of backstories on the tracks and the making of the album, Cube goes in for over one hour. Check out the replay here, courtesy of Ice Cube’s YouTube channel.
