50 CENT WINS EMMY FOR DIDDY DOCUMENTARY ‘SEAN COMBS: THE RECKONING

50 CENT WINS EMMY FOR DIDDY DOCUMENTARY ‘SEAN COMBS: THE RECKONING

From trolling to trophies — 50 Cent just added an Emmy win to his resume.

The G-Unit mogul’s controversial Netflix docuseries “Sean Combs: The Reckoning” took home Outstanding Picture Editing For A Nonfiction Program at the 78th Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, September 5th in Los Angeles.

Executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, the 4-part Netflix series — which premiered December 2nd and is described as an Emmy-nominated 2025 Netflix docuseries produced by 50 Cent — became the most talked-about documentary of the year for its unfiltered look at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal troubles leading up to his September 2024 arrest.

The Academy recognized the show in three major categories: Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series, Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program, and Outstanding Picture Editing for a Nonfiction Program — taking home the editing trophy.

50 reacted exactly how you’d expect:

“I won an Emmy; still think I’m taking a L????… GreenLightGang we don’t miss”

The win is historic for hip-hop. While Diddy’s team called the project a “shameful hit piece” and filed cease-and-desist letters, the Television Academy and Netflix audiences disagreed — the doc hit No. 1 on Netflix globally and is now Emmy-validated.

Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker Alexandria Stapleton and produced by House of Nonfiction, G-Unit Film & Television, and Texas Crew Productions for Netflix, The Reckoning was built from never-before-seen footage and first-hand accounts.

For 50, who faced major backlash for producing the doc while Diddy’s federal case was unfolding, the Emmy is vindication. For the culture, it’s a moment where accountability storytelling got its flowers on TV’s biggest stage.
