Video: Willie D Reports Live From Houston During Hurricane Harvey

Legendary rapper Willie D of the Geto Boys, a Houston, Texas native, took it upon himself to give the world a visual of what’s going on during the city’s troubling time with Hurricane Harvey. The hurricane touched down in the southeast Texas, Gulf of Mexico area and has caused flooding, wind damage, and flight cancellations since the Category 4 storm struck on August 25, 2017. More than 30.000 people are reported having sought shelter from the storm’s winds and rising water.

Houston in particular has reportedly received over 51 inches of rain during this time.

An avid content provider (and known for his straight talk persona) through his video/audio podcast “Willie D Live”, Willie takes it to the street to record a live video to show us a brief glimpse of the damage the water is doing. This video was recorded on August 28. 2017, so that means more severe damage may have occurred or may be around the corner due to reports of the storm touching down again in Texas and Louisiana.

Many efforts have been brought together to provide relief to storm victims. Though the Red Cross and FEMA have been visual, there has been criticism that they have not been helpful to those in true need. Many organic efforts have arisen with people taking it upon themselves to send water, food, diapers, and other supplies to the areas in need of assistance. Comedian Kevin Hart called out many of his celebrity peers to donate monetarily to relief efforts as he donated $50,000.00 himself. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, T.I., Nicki Minaj. Chris Brown, DJ Khaled, and many others have responded.
